From our hands to yours.
Three decades of craftsmanship, one family’s passion.
Our Story
Our love affair with jewellery began when 16-year-old Stephen De Waal first trained in costume jewellery manufacture. Inspired by the craft, he pursued a formal jewellery apprenticeship in Sydney, learning the fine art of jewellery manufacturing and design.
Soon after, Stephen opened his own workshop on the Central Coast, producing jewellery for retail stores across Australia. Over the years, as many retailers shifted from custom-made designs to mass-produced imports, Stephen’s passion for custom craftsmanship only grew stronger. Determined to keep the tradition alive, he stepped away from retail supply and established Dewaal Jewellery, a place dedicated to original, beautiful, one-of-a-kind creations.
A New Generation
Today, Stephen’s daughter, Laura, works alongside him in their workshop. Trained under Stephen’s guidance and skilled in both traditional craftsmanship and modern CAD design, Laura brings a fresh creative vision to the business.
Her own brand, Laura De, offers customisable designs available in yellow, white, and rose gold, as well as silver, with interchangeable gemstones for a truly personal touch.
At Dewaal Jewellery, creating a piece is never just about the end result—it’s about the experience. From the first conversation to the final polish, we take the time to understand what each piece means to you. We are here not only to create jewellery of exceptional quality, but also to share our knowledge—explaining how each piece is made, how to care for it, and why the details matter.
Every design is brought to life in-house in our Australian workshop, using ethically sourced materials and a blend of time-honoured techniques and modern innovations. The result? Jewellery you can treasure for a lifetime—made with passion, skill, and heart.
